<wishes he had something witty to go here>
« on: February 03, 2017, 01:56:13 PM »
Hello all,

Longtime writer -- journalism, finished first* novel in the fall and had a friend tip me to QT a few weeks ago. Incredibly useful. Glad to find a community with it.

So far have gotten two very nice non-form-letter rejections which both said basically "really like it but can't figure out how to categorize it so I'll pass on it."

Still sending out queries, of course.

Feeling discouraged today but that's how it goes...

(*technically second. I wrote a widely unpublished novel right out of college. That was back when we chiseled on to stone tablets. Book had about 30 good pages out of 200. )

welcome Constantine,

interesting that it's getting rejected because they don't know how to classify it...  that's a new one on me, but I'm sure if you're getting personalized rejections then you are probably close to landing someone who will know what to do with it.

Yay, stone tablets!  I remember those!  Welcome.  This place is a treasure trove.

What a strange day: 3 pro-forma rejections from query letters and two agents actually reading it.
