Has anyone been ghosted AFTER signing a contract with an agency? And I'm talking about a legit agency, not one you'd find on the preditors list, etc. How many unanswered emails over how long is acceptable? ***Asking for a friend*** confused

Yes. First make sure the agent is still alive. If she's on social media, that will give you a hint. Also if she's still responding to queries in the QT data stream.

I'd say send one more message somehow stating that if you don't have a response within a certain time frame (72 hours maybe?) that you will terminate your contract with the agency. Look over your contract first though to make sure you do everything EXACTLY as stipulated in the contract.

When you send your termination letter, specify that the agent is not to send or pitch your manuscript starting immediately, and you want a complete list of every editor who's seen it within thirty days. Send the letter both via email and whatever other format they request (probably certified mail) and also CC the head of the agency. Be polite, but state your reasons. "I attempted to contact you on DATE, DATE, DATE, and DATE. Your last contact with me was on DATE. Therefore I regretfully terminate my contract with Sloth Literary Agents, LLC."

Good luck.

Assuming you've tried calling, right?

If you haven't called, then don't move on to the threat until after you've left a message and she hasn't called back in 48 hours.

Yes! I believe I was repped by Sloth Literary agent once, and they ghosted me while I was ON SUB.

AFTER 6 months I sent a termination email, but I should have done it sooner...
