Changing titles

Let's say you've sent many queries out, and while you're waiting, you've been tinkering with your story, and you've come up with what you think is a better title. When you send the next batch of queries, do you change to the new title, even if there are still queries out there with the old title, or do you just keep the old title until that glorious day when an agent actually responds with something that isn't a rejection?

Change the title immediately. The title is a selling tool, and it is the first thing the agent will see because it is appearing in the subject ine of the query.

If you get a request on the old title, don't change the subject line when you send the manuscript, but do mention, "I've since changed the title to NewTitle."
