I know that you usually don't nudge agents before 3 months, and some people even say 6, but I submitted to an agent whose assistant responded by saying, thanks so much and to give them a few weeks to review the materials. I think of a few weeks as being 3, and it's now been over a month.

So I just wanted to ask for opinions. Do y'all think it would it be bad form to check in at 5 weeks with an agent who said they'd take "a few weeks" to read?

I'd give them two months at minimum, even though they said "a few weeks". Agents can get super busy very quickly, if one of their client's books status changes (reading/editing a new draft, book goes on submission, gets an offer from a publisher, etc etc). I personally don't ever nudge before three months haha. I have a full out currently, with absolutely no timeframe mentioned.

Best of luck!

Thanks for the advice! I need to have my over-eagerness reined in sometimes!
