I'm really hoping to find more realistic MG graphic novels in my inbox this spring. I would love to see books like:

Free Lunch
Rollergirl
The Prince and the Dressmaker
New Kid

#mswl Very interested in receiving submissions from authors who write screenplays, and screenwriters who are also novelists in the genres: small-town romance, holiday romance, beach ready-y women's fiction.

#mswl Would also love a mg or ya adventure or mystery set in the OBX. Plus pirates would be great. Own voices A-A male or female protagonists would be ah-may-zing.

If you’ve got a middle grade or YA high-concept fantasy where the diverse cast of protagonists try their best to be good and kind in the face of evil, like in THE DRAGON PRINCE, my inbox is open! #mswl

Alice S-H @alibelle

Listening to Fearless (obv Taylor’s Version) and it’s the very first time I’ve heard the album - I came to her with 1989 - and it’s an absolute banger, unsurprisingly.
It’s so YA?? I want the book of this album, please.

(Genuinely I really want more romance and friendship in my queries, please, particularly from marginalised voices.)

John, please slow down. Firstly, you're making my sides ache from laughter, which is not good for me after my big breakfast. Secondly, I am trying to quickly write queries/stories to match each of your MSWL and find myself falling hopelessly behind... :flag:

Um, these are for real guys, I didn't make them up, or quote them ironically, facetiously. I'm glad y'all are having a good time with them, but I really didn't have that kind of intent.

Granted, having a plethora of genres in the MSWL begs a bit of giddiness, but I was being serious with these entries. (Although listing "cookbooks, memoirs" next to each other I think moves "into the beyond".)

Three of these are easy to find in the QT database:

Eric Smith

Lauren Spieller

Leonicka Valcius (I think I'm going to steal this name for a villain... )

The other one, not so much.

Agent @AWomanReading :

Is looking for "writers who write screenplays" (we have at least two of those) and is very interested in pirate stories (I recall something about "pirates in tuxes" and something about penguins... ). But her handle is unsearchable with the QT database. You have to contact her direct via the Twitter.

A bit humorous they may be, but I wouldn't necessarily write them off...

John, at this point I wouldn't write off any agent. Even if she were a pirate as her day job...

Yeah, they seem to be flexibile with the genres :D

Also from A Woman Reading:

#mswl would love a mg or ya fantasy or scifi set in Ethiopia. Or an adult royal romance. Or a historical fantasy romance. Or a biopic related to the royal family.

So if anyone wants a sure fire idea to land this agent:

Prince William of Mars finds the diaries of Duchess Meghan hidden in the beaches of the OBX after dealing with royal family politics during a holiday by the river Nile, whilst also trying to fend off a small town pirate who is a failed screenwriter.

On a serious note, she sounds like a lovely human being and I think I just may query her, even if my book meets 0% of her broad interests (I am a credited screenwriter though, so that's something). OK so 1%.
