My success story
« on: October 06, 2021, 05:29:04 PM »
Hey, Everyone -

I've been querying agents for 6 yrs without success although I did publish 4 books through tiny small presses who accepted un-agented submissions. One of those books, Type & Cross, was nominated for a Thriller Award and another, Con Me Once, just won a Silver Falchion award in August.

But at long last, in a 48-hour flurry of activity, I just signed with Lucienne Diver of The Knight Agency who sold my 5th book, a modern Gothic murder mystery, The Photo Thief, to CamCat Books!

I've uploaded the Publisher Marketplace announcement, which just went live today. The book will be published in hardcover, paperback, and audio and will hit the market next fall (yes, there's a one-year lag between signing and publishing!)

Thank you all for your support during these past 6 yrs. It helped more than you'll ever know. Don't give up. Keep honing your craft, and it will happen to you, too.

Thank you all! It's awesome to see so many familiar faces - blasts from the past!

Congrats. Sounds like you've really taken your licks and earned this.

Oh, PPeterson - you have no idea. I made every mistake in the book, I think.  ;D But the biggest one was giving up on querying with my first book. I stopped at 50 rejections, not knowing this was peanuts and I should continue for at least twice that number. Had I been more persistent with book one, my trajectory may have been way different. Live and learn.

I quit after one.  :emb: In all fairness though, my first book was never going to get published. It was awful. Now I've rewritten it entirely, and I won't be giving up!
