I have to echo that agents are real people. For the QT blog, we've lined up some agents to appear on the blog (soooo exciting, I hope you're all reading), and me and Suzy_Q were in the same room when we sent the first email. My heart has never pounded so hard. Not even when sending a query. That they can just hit the auto-respond "you suckage" to and move on with their day.

We actually held hands. Read the email like fifty thousand times out loud. Clicked send...it was terrifying. I mean, we were asking them to do something for us! And you know what? They're real people. All of them that have responded have been nothing but absolutely delightful to correspond with. I think Leah (GypsyGurl) said something like this in her interview on The Call. They are just people. Just like you.

Now, here's how I'm going to make you feel better. A couple of years ago I fired off a query to Rock Star Agent Dan Lazar, also of Writers House, because he sounded like a nice guy in an interview. My ms was unfinished and my query sucked and he sort of doesn't really rep my genre.

Now that's reason to bang head on desk. Yours is reason to go have a glass of cheap chardonnay. If you need one.
