Making My Manuscript More 'Literary'?

I just received notes from an editor regarding my first 5,000 words. She said the genre was fantasy / speculative, but I'm aiming to query it as literary fiction with a speculative edge. Does anyone have advice on making my novel more 'literary'? I'm quite fond of David Mitchell, Margaret Atwood, Emily St. John Mantel, Kazuo Ishiguro, etc.

I suggest using these comps in your query and agents/editors will get it. Speculative Literary Fiction is probably how I'd pitch it. Good luck!!
