New SciFi/Fantasy Writer
« on: March 25, 2022, 06:16:25 PM »
Hi I'm Liv, newbie to publishing but longtime reader! My favorite books are the His Dark Materials trilogy and Ratha's Creature series. Did you know the author of HDM wrote a craft book called Daemon Voices? He had some good essays for writers in there.

I wrote a 90K urban fantasy with paranormal elements I'm hoping to query this year... :write:

In the wings I have a science fiction manuscript about genetically engineering animals that still needs a lot of work.

I've also been tempted to write a fresh mermaid story. But we'll see. After my first two projects are done, I may want to prioritize going to the beach over writing a third book. :ic:

Hi Liv,

Welcome aboard!  I look forward to your contributions on this forum, which I've found to be a very supportive community.

Also:  if you're planning a book on mermaids, then every beach trip is just research, right?  (And tax-deductible?)

ps -- I read Pullman's Daemon Voices earlier this year and loved it -- thought-provoking insights on every page.
