I'll just go bananas for you - will that do?

Way to go, MJ!

Dare I ask how many more drafts you plan on puttin' the thing through?

I'm going to work on a query now...gulp... (oh crap, I can't put it off!)   And then do another edit, printed this time.  Then I'll probably give it one more pass, double check for spelling and grammar, and then get it off to beta readers.

THEN...a final go over... and ....dum dum DUM (play scary music) start actually USING this site.

That's funny -- I also haven't really gotten too into the actual QT main site in quite some time!  I'm more likely to be over there in Dec/Jan.  I've purposely kept myself from agent stats just so I can be wowed by the enormity of the data once I get closer to launching queries.

So do you have a query launch date targeted after the final touch-ups and such?

I've stopped giving myself deadlines...  Learned the hard way.   no   I'm HOPING by the end of October, so I can finish the dang thing before two years.  (I started the whole process in November of 2005)

That sounds very reasonable... and practical, too.  My first took 27 months.  I think I can tackle this current one in 6.

Crazy?  Yeah, maybe.

Remember to repeat my fave mantra upon giving it those last looks:

Art is never finished, only abandonned.

Not that I call my work "art," just more of an all-things-creative thing.  Basically it's just to remind myself that there will always be something in the text that I can complain about if given enough time to see it.

Wellll.....

I"m procrastinating with a short story idea.

I thought about whipping something up to enter in The Writer's of the Future. http://www.writersofthefuture.com/  Their  last contest quarter of the year ends on Sept 30th.  Any chance we can get for publication credits, will only help us in the query process of our novels.
