A response from an agent! Finally!
« on: May 07, 2010, 03:17:16 PM »
Got a form rejection today; but so glad to get something, anything from an agent that I dont care it was an R!  I queried her 4-30 and have since sent about 12 so hopefully this is the start of some responses.  I really hate the nonresponders.  It drives me nuts.

Sorry Kimmy. It only takes one and you're a lot closer than I am.  :)

I understand what you are saying, I am in the exact same spot . I almost fee like querying 1 day responders just for the sake of getting an R.

Sounds like there's a demand out there for quick turnaround rejections. That is something I would be willing to do.

Rejections ARE Us Literary Agency. 24 hour response time guaranteed.

A sample rejection:

Thank you for your query. Your story sounds exciting and your characters appear to be both sympathetic and devious. Unfortunately, our staff is loaded up to their ears with work. Your novel is well suited for a much larger agency where time and money are not an issue. Should we ever expand our staff, please keep us in mine.

Sorry Kimmy, the cover actually represents the slave Axia fights during her freedom fight, and the best part is that I found it on deviantart.com completely at random. It fit so well that I contacted the artist and asked if I could use it as a temporary cover. You should check that website out. They do have creepy stuff but some great sci-fi/fantasy/paranormal CG.
The creepiness is not what I was going for but at least it does get some reaction I guess  :)

It feels more like cyberpunk than anything else to me. It reminds me of the anime "Metropolis" since she's sort of child-like.

Here's a gladiator for your cover:
