The June 1st contest
« on: June 01, 2010, 08:16:54 PM »
Hello,  my name is Mikki Sadil ( AJ to all of you), and I'm new to Query Trackers and to the forum.  I have a question that I hope someone can answer for me:

I live in California, and in the Pacific Time Zone.  It is now 9 minutes after 6Pm on June 1st, and I just tried to enter the Contest where you send a one sentence pitch and the first chapter of your completed work.  The contest didn't open until 6 pm EASTERN time...that means that the Mountain and Central time zones were 1 and 2 hours ahead of me in terms of the contest being open.  Only the first 100 entries were accepted.  Needless to say, when I submitted mine at 3 minutes after 6, the contest was closed.

Of course it was closed!  So my question is this...without moving to the East coast, how can anyone in the Pacific time zone EVER get an entry accepted when the majority of the rest of the country has entry times hours earlier than we do?

I hardly think this is fair!   >:(  Sorry to be such a grouch the first time I post, but I'm really upset.

Unhappily yours,( ;D )  AJ

Hi A.J.

The contest closed SUPER FAST (2 minutes). This particular contest opened at 9 PM EST, which would've been your 6 PM. They don't get to enter earlier than you do. You were right to be there at 6 your time. The entries just went really fast this time, that's all. Sorry!  :'(
My trilogy is complete! POSSESSION, SURRENDER, ABANDON, and short stories REGRET and RESIST, are available now wherever books are sold.

My next novel, a YA contemporary novel, ELEVATED, is coming on February 18, 2014.

Hi AJ! :welcome:  Welcome to QT!

I'm sorry you didn't make it into the contest. :( All the contests I've seen closed within just a couple of minutes.  Patrick is working on finding a way to spread out the entry time, perhaps with a lottery.

First karma to you.  ;D
