The host of a local TV show (I think it's Looks at Books - but I could be confusing it with an SNL skit) - saw my play and has invited me to be on her program on June 30th (Channel 20 if you're on the East End of Long Island).  Anyroad, I will certainly talk about this wonderful site and the more than lovely QTers who have helped me again and again.   clap Thumbs Up

Thanks guys, you're all so sweet and kind to be so encouraging.  I'm just concerned it's such a low-budget kind of outfit there'll be no room for retakes and I'll be stammering and coming across as uber dork.    But I shall do my best to appear calm and composed and will not write on my palm like a certain former Alaskan governor, but will have a cheat sheet so I am certain to mention this wonderful site and all its lovely peeps.   Thumbs Up

Hey zooks, that's great. Congratulations and thanks for the shout out. You should have someone record it so we can all see you in action.

Tons and tons of  clap and a dizzy round of  Party Crowd should greet this news!

I have some broadcasting in my background, so I'll make a few suggestions to help you maintain your composure.

First, remember the number of key points you want to hit.  So if you want to talk about the play, QT, and me, you remember the number 3.  If you sit or stand with your hands cupped, you can keep count of the points by folding over a finger of the hand closest to your body.

Second, ignore the camera and speak to the host.  If it's the type of show where the host asks questions off-camera, focus on the top of the cameraman's head at the lowest point you can see.  It will look as though you're looking into the camera, but you won't be.  Then you'll feel less self conscious.

Next, if you're prone to saying "Umm" practice saying it only in your head.  A pause sounds more intelligent than "umm".

Finally, if you lose your train of thought, take a sip of water or give a small cough.  It allows yourself time to get your composure back without sitting with a blank look on your face.

Hope this helps and Congratulations!

Thanks oodles to all you lovely QT peeps.  Thanks, cheermom, for those on-air pointers.  I just hope my Turette's doesn't kick in.   wink2
