Quickbrownfox literary agents
« on: January 08, 2008, 05:39:46 PM »
Hi,
a friend of mine sent her ms to quickbrownfox agency. They asked for a reading fee so she told them to forget it. They then said they'd waive the reading fee and asked for her full ms. They claim to want to deal with first time authors only. Is this a scam?

Has anyone had any dealings with them. Thanks.

Sigh-- This is depressing.  Why do they keep popping up?  I'm gonna start a scammer agency and demand reading fees and make a bunch of money.  No, I'm not.  I have ethics.

I don't really think this is a scammer, but rather an amateur operation, begun to self-publish their own crap. My guess is that it's a vanity press.

I emailed them just to see what they would say. They are now saying they don't charge a reading fee but suggested I send them a bar of chocolate. They wouldn't give any details about their contracts, they said it varied from author to author.

"Adam Kirkman has almost ten years' experience in the book trade, and set up Quick Brown Fox Publications to publish his own novel."

His little blurb is:

What if the Greek gods were real and had power today? What revenge could they take on those whose ancestors had wronged them?

The gods work their influence through music, and we see the players in this piece respond to the soundtrack that they cannot hear, even as they unwittingly dance to the tune of the heavenly music.

Yeah, I too liked it much better when it was called American Gods.

I'm still wondering about the bar of chocolate?  Sounds like Shultz from Hogan's Heroes has gone into the agenting business.
