@lexcade - haha yeah, when you've reached that Zen WTF stage and just press SEND.  Good for you!  I hope you get a prompt, positive response.

With a good deal of encouragement from you guys, I have begun to write a new first chapter to Death at the Drive-In.  Thanks again, you lovelies.

I got mine three days ago. Sorry to say it, but looks like she is all talk. She does exactly the opposite of what she preaches on youtube or on her website.
How are we supposed to know what is wrong with our work if she won't tell us?

I sent her a polite email asking to tell me what turned her off, but received no response yet.
This was my first query and I thought she is such a nice an enthusiastic girl, she will offer some help, even if she can't represent me.

I am 59 years old, I find it a bit humiliating that I am trying to cater to a 18 year old. Self-publishing is starting to look better and better every minute :)

Now I feel better.  >:D

Zenev-

Most agents are not going to take the time to answer why they didn't like your query, other than the story simply didn't appeal to them. Don't take the passes on queries personally. Just move on to the next.

Before you do that, check out Penguin's DAW imprint, which is the only division, as far as I know, that accepts un-agented submissions. DAW does fantasy and science fiction. Here is the link:

McMillan imprint Tor/Forge (aka Tom Doherty Associates) accepts unrepresented work as well.  They do not want a query, either.  I gave the following link a read-over, and it's just proposal + 3 chapters.

aww..thanks, zenev.   (what I meant to write up there was: I licked my wounds, not I liked them.  Does that constitute a Freudian slip?  I do believe it could.)  hahaha     :koolaid:  for everyone!

I looked at this link.  THIS INTRIGUED ME:  "Don't send a query. It's practically impossible to judge a project from a query. We'd rather see your proposal."
This makes sense to me.  We all sweat trying to get the right query out to Agents.  If a publisher states it's impossible to judge a project from a query - how can an Agent?

I vote Freudian Slip, and a great one at that. Congratulations.
