What a day
« on: September 01, 2010, 09:35:23 PM »
Today I received two emails. The first one made me go :: face-palm:: because an agent sent me an email confirming they had received the submission I sent them and then she corrected my spelling of her first name... I felt so stupid and my heart dropped to my knees ... But then she added a smiley at the end so I guess it's not too bad is it????

Then the next email came as a response to  query with the first ten pages and said :

" this novel could be AMAZING -- it is a unique concept that hasn't been done before and I LOVE it. " and  "oh my goodness this is so good" and then she said what bothered her about the beginning and stated that if I ever revised it she would be glad to take another look.

So my question is this: when I do revise it, what should I send her ? Another query? An email asking if she wants to submit??? I am not used to this since it came from a query Nd not a submission.

when you revise, send her an email reminding her who you are and what she said, and then include the revised beginning at the bottom  :)

not bad at all, alniah! i'm rooting for ya!

:woot:  That's a great compliment! :woo:

Do you agree that her suggestions will make the book stronger?  If so, stop querying and revise it.  Take your time -- if you send it tomorrow she'll wonder how much work you did.

Then write a brief letter to go above the body of your query saying you revised as per her instructions.  Re-paste the query, and add the new pages.

Oh, and put "Requested material" in the subject line.   I think.  :emb:  Hopefully someone will chime in on this part especially.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you!  :cheer:

This sort of strikes me as odd. I mean, revise the first 10 and then...what? I can see if it was a partial and she gave you a R/R, but, idk, revise 10 pages to her specs? How does she know what happens next??

I'm curious who this agent is, and feel free to pm me, because I know one agent who does this and I'm not real keen on it to be honest.

If you agree with the changes, and it's just a matter of tweaking, then do it. It just gives me a little whinge (wince + twinge ) and I'm not sure why.

As for the other agent, that's nice that she gave you the smiley.

Here's one as well.  :)
