one partial out on request
« on: February 02, 2011, 09:28:59 PM »
One partial out on request.  It took me FOUR HOURS to send it.  I re-read it.  Cussed the inventor of WORD for the antiquated program I have that refuses - now and then, to actually SAVE when I ask it to.

Added a few gems that came to me at the edge of delirium...found out I do much better work when I AM delirious...and hit SEND.

I honestly and truly don't care if it gets rejected.  That's the odd thing that has happened.

At first, it was THE END OF THE WORLD.

The world didn't end.

My husband adores me and so does my doggie
<----------that one,  and it stopped being a big deal.

For me, that's the best thing that has come out of this query, manuscript, QT thing.

Don't sweat the small stuff and, it's ALL small stuff. :zen2: :zen2: :zen2: :zen2: :zen1: :zen2: :zen2: :zen2: :zen2:

Good luck Dana, and if you want to get a few more partials out there, don't forget the UK agents. They often accept 3 chapters up front along with synopsis.

Thank you Magic, MaryL, Tabis and Claire for your enthusiasm filling the gap where mine doesn't exist.

I thought it was NECESSARY for an agent to sign me, to say that my writing was, indeed, worthy.

But the truth hit home when I acknowledged the FACT that I enjoyed writing the manuscript and didn't really lose my love until I placed too much emphasis on accomplishing a goal that is, at best, iffy.

First - A lot of things started happening to me on QT that removed my enthusiasm and jubilation at finding others feeling the same angst as I.

That's why, and when, I realized that the fun was in "getting there".  I simply changed focus from the destination and now just remind myself of the enjoyment I had making the trip.

Good for you, Dana. As for losing the fun because of the pressure, I think that's why some of my published friends are miserable at times. No matter what, it's important to focus on the joy in the process, rather than the trials. The further you go, the greater the pressure and the greater the need to be able to find that desire that caused you to write in the first place.
