Print on demand publishers...
« on: February 13, 2011, 07:49:20 PM »
Do agents consider books that are POD traditionally published? Or is it more along the lines of self publishing?

Print-on-demand is simply a method of producing a printed book. Some commercial publishers will do that, rather than risk large offset runs which may have to be brought back and pulped when they don't sell.

Most agents, in thrall to the old paradigm, consider POD books as being suspect, if not not downright sacrilegious. Don't forget, to them any form of self-publishing represents Armageddon, and they are therefore not in favor of it.   :)

POD (Print on Demand) is a technology, but it's often used as a catch-all phrase to refer to self-published books.

Debut novel, BLOOD OF A STONE (Tuscany Press) released in March 2015; winner of IPPY in national category of religious fiction and currently a finalist for IAN Book of the Year. My work-in-progress: THE DOUBLE SUN.
