Hello!

I returned from a year-long parental leave in April 2024 and am excited to once again be open to queries. I am actively seeking new clients. Going forward I will be responding to ALL queries. I will endeavour to make a request or decline within one month of receiving your query and will tweak my estimated timeline as needed. Please feel free to follow up if you haven't heard within two months of submitting your query.

Also, please note that I have intentionally kept my genre wish list vague, particularly for fiction.

I am focused on contemporary upmarket fiction but I love subtle speculative elements and can be called to more literary or commercial projects. Solid world building, nuanced character development and a clear hook are key for me, no matter the genre.

I am NOT the right agent for full-on fantasy or science fiction, and I do NOT represent children's books of any kind (YA, MG or picture books).

In non-fiction, I love working with authors who have specific expertise and a unique point of view that cater to a gap in the marketplace. I have primarily worked on lifestyle books, but I love to be surprised, and have surprised myself in the past by what I gravitated towards! Regardless of expertise, platform is key--whether that's based on your experience, accreditation or social media following. I am also really enjoying working on narrative non-fiction and would love to find more projects in this category.

You can learn more about me and my list here: https://cookemcdermid.com/about-paige.

Thanks very much for your time and attention. I look forward to reading your query!
