Send a Query to Katie Erickson at Jennifer De Chiara Literary Agency

I love receiving queries, and I can't wait for you to knock my socks off! Thank you for sending them my way.

At this time, I am only seeking:

1) Authors who also illustrate at a professional level for graphic novels, picture books, and non-fiction. Do not send me AI generated art. Please make sure to attach a file or provide the link to a portfolio with your submission if you are a professional artist. Bonus points if its funny and witty, think Phoebe and her Unicorn.

(I am not seeking picture book text-only authors at this time, and if you send it my way at this time, I'm afraid it will be an automatic no.)

2) I'm looking for a cozy mystery, a bonus if there is some fantasy, like the next The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches or Legends and Lattes.

3) Cozy Rom Com, think Abby Jimenez.

4) Middle grade fantasy/sci-fi. Books about gaming like Gamer or a moon/mars book like The Lion of Mars.

5) Mystery-Thriller

6) Detective/Amateur Detectives/Detective Club

7) LitRPG, last but not least. This one is harder to find. Think DCC but more found family.

If it isn't obvious, I love fantasy, sci fi, cozy, funny, and contemporary. I am also interested in unique forms, such as novel in verse. I lean commercial over literary.

No fae, sirens, sexual assault, graphic violence, nor pet deaths, please.

I get so many lovely queries that I cannot individually respond to everyone. I am no longer responding to every query. If you do receive a "no" from me, please know that it could be due to any number of reasons, including:

I have something too similar on my list right now.
I may not have a vision for where I can place it.
I know that something similar coming out soon.
I am not looking for that particular genre/audience at this time.

This is a slow, subjective business, so please don't let that discourage you - your agent is out there. We all want partnerships where everyone is equally ecstatic about the work!

Thank you for your interest in querying me after the KidLitGN event.

I am looking forward to reviewing your work,
Katie Erickson
