Has anyone NOT received a response of any form from him? I previously submitted my query and requested pages after a pitch conference last summer (2019) and never received a response, even after following up politely. Then this year I realized he changed agencies, and figured maybe my stuff got lost in translation. So I queried him again (cold turkey this time, no mention of the conference before). Still no response and it's been 39 days . . .

Mecheart,

Just thought to mention that there are other gatekeepers, even beyond agents, editors, and publishers. He could have a similar project or his hands are full as of now. Lots of reasons really. Even tastes in reading differ agent to agent. My first rejection included a paragraph praising my writing style. A later one declared that it was too ornate. Don't let one no keep you off the path.

Best of luck.

This one's a bit disheartening as this agent seems like the "go to" guy for graphic sci-fi. Just a note to perhaps put things in perspective with querying ones novel around. Sure, rejection is to be expected. However, through an online writing group 1050+ readers read this manuscript and a large majority of them enjoyed it. Obviously the book appeals and is marketable. Ode to the "gatekeepers" I suppose . . .

My apologies for the delay in responding—I’ve fallen behind on responding to queries due to some health issues I’ve was dealing with over the last few months.
I appreciate you reaching back out to me regarding your submission. From the age of your protagonist and the themes you mention in your query letter, this feels like a manuscript more focused on young adult or new adult readers. For that reason, I’m going to have to pass on this project.
I wish you the best of luck moving forward, and a Happy Thanksgiving to you as well.
