Long form letters hurt more than short form letters because there's the brief thought that it's a personalized rejection given the length.

Nowhere on their website does it say a no from one of them is a no from all of them. Unless an agency makes this policy explicit, I would certainly submit to another agent if the first one passes (and if there's another agent who you think would be a good fit for the book).

Does anyone know if Belcastro allows multiple submissions, if another agent has rejected?

Kind and encouraging form rejection:

Thank you for sending me the manuscript for [title]. Unfortunately, the opening pages weren't pulling me in as strongly as I had hoped in order to champion the work. I'm so sorry to have to share such disappointing news. The publishing industry is so subjective, so what may not be working for me could be just the thing another agent is looking for.

In your search for the perfect agent, you may want to check out Writer’s Digest Guide to Literary Agents blog: http://www.writersdigest.com/editor-blogs/guide-to-literary-agents, I have found it to be an excellent resource for finding new agents that are looking to build their lists.

I encourage you to continue your pursuit of publication. Keep honing your skills, learning about the industry, and always embrace a growth mindset. Remember, this pass is only a pass on this piece of work and not on you as an author. I would be delighted to be considered for future projects.

I'm rooting for you!
