10.11.2022 FQ
12.18.2022 still holding out hope I’ll get a response, but based off his query response data, I’m starting to think no response is a no for him
update: sounds to me from the rest of the convo in this chat that we're hoping he might get to it eventually, so I've returned to keeping track of it, though I might message in kind of a nudge way/let him know I did a lot of revisions over the break and cut my word count significantly and see what he says at that point
1/17/2023: I did end up sending him a nudge/FYI message about the updated MS!

Queried 10/20 No response by 12/12 but pulled it to revise. Don't know if I'll resubmit. I read a tweet he had, something about some info can wait, the reader will still follow, etc. I finally had my writing group read first pages and they said I had some telling that needed to change. Beta's told me I had too much mystery! so I had to add something, but learned not everyone can be right. Anyway, It's a Contemp Fantasy 83k. Or supernatural thriller, depending on the agent.

I nudged to ask if he was still responding to October queries and he sent me a form rejection. I think he is overwhelmed with queries.

@bollenz I'd give it a little longer. While it's been three linear months, remember that publishing takes off a lot of time for Thanksgiving and Xmas. I don't think MLM was in office for the last two weeks of Decemeber and they were already running behind on queries before that.

@ Bollenz
Maybe? The problem with assuming they go through their inboxes linearly is that it doesn't account for the people who send a query and then have an offer of rep a week later. Clearly, they should respond to the item that is about to be removed from offering. It is disheartening to wait so long.

It's been 3 months and I'm about to close this as CNR. What are others thoughts though - If an agent skips over dozens, including yours, then requests a full from one submitted long after yours, can you assume yours is a no? I'm seeing it a lot because obvs agents are inundated, but would rather just close it off than be left wondering.

@AshShees he said on Twitter that he will reply but that's he's gotten behind. From the timeline it looks like he may still be responding to ones from around the 11th but hasn't responded in a while. I sent on 10/23 and he it looks like he still has close to 200 unread ones until he gets to mine. I honestly don't know how they get through them all!
