So, I had a weird exchange with Matthew Elblonk that I thought might interest people considering querying him:
I queried him 10/27. He replied about 20 minutes later that my book sounded interesting, and asked if any editors or agents had seen it yet. He didn't actually ask to see the MS, so I didn't send it, just replied that no editors had seen it but that the full was out with several other agents. I replied about a minute after he sent his initial email.
He never replied, so on 11/1 I reached out again in case I misinterpreted his initial email and he actually was requesting the full. I flat-out asked if he was interested in reading the manuscript.
Still no reply. I'm not sure what turned him off; maybe he doesn't like not being someone's first choice to query? I, like many other writers, prefer to query people who send form rejections before moving on to non-responders, but I still would have been thrilled to be represented by him.
I plan on giving him until the end of the week, in case there is a legitimate reason that he hasn't replied to me, but after that I will close it out and query someone else at DeFiore.

Whatever the website says, it's clear that these guys do NOT respond to all queries. Lots of people here CNR'ing them.

I know that the agency says they do respond, but I queried him Jan. 26 and nudged four weeks later. Nada. And now it's been another month and I still haven't heard a peep. Needless to say, I'm not holding my breath now, but it'd be nice to have closure, considering the agency does give a timeline and promises a response. Rant over.

Forgot to add: I'm CNRing this one now. Grrr.

Robyn, he's not with D4EO, he's with DeFiore. Similar, but different! Their website says that they respond to all queries within 4 weeks, so if you've waited that long you might want to follow up. I queried him about 2 weeks ago with no reply yet.
