Form rejection...only 2 days, though, so better at least than the ones who leave me hanging for several months. Polite and encouraging and did take the time to paste the title into the response, so there's that:

Thank you for your query. I appreciate the opportunity to consider your novel for possible representation, but having read your description and sample material I’m not enthusiastic enough about it to be the right agent for you. However, don’t let my response discourage you as this is only my opinion and as there are lots of agents there is a good chance you’ll find another who feels differently.

I’m sorry that I can’t respond in a more detailed and personal manner because of the large number of queries I receive. Thanks again for thinking of me, and I wish you the best of luck with _____________

2 paragrah rejection 1/7/17.

2nd paragraph was a form rejection, but the first paragraph mentioned details of my book and that he'd researched me oline. I'm thrilled he was interested enough to take time to look into it further. My website tracker showed he'd visited numerous pages and came in from my LinkedIn profile. So for anyone querying, make sure you have a polished and public LinkedIn profile.

Received rejection on a 65K mystery/suspense after only a couple of weeks. Considerate or not really looking into it very much.

ER: 10/08 Requested first 15,000 words
Thank you for your query. It’s difficult for me to reach a decision about your novel without reading a sample. Why not send me the first 15,000 words or so and I’ll let you know if I care to see the rest.
Michael Congdon
EM: 10/08 Sent first six chapters

While I feel your good dialogue should be balanced by more narrative (you rely too heavily on the former), I’m interested in reading the rest of SMITHEE’S ASYLUM.
