That's a standard answer from many agents meaning it doesn't fit their list at the moment.

I got a reject saying they weren't taking on new clients, but nothing on their website indicates that.

These people are from the politically far left progressive element in our society. Unless your writing fits this narrow slice of anything at all, they will reject it forthwith.

"Not for us but good luck with your efforts." One hour reply signed by Frances Goldin. God bless the rapid rejection.

Polite email rejection similar to Newday's. Received response roughly 2 1/2 weeks after sending e-query.

This agency will not consider any manuscript you have ever submitted directly to a publisher, according to their web page.

Received a very polite rejection by the agent, Sam: Thank you very much for your query. I'm afraid that, although under other circumstances I might want to take a look at some of your work, I am swamped with submissions and current commitments at the moment, and so I'm simply not able to consider your project right now. However, I do appreciate the opportunity to consider your writing, and wish you success in finding the right person to represent your literary interests.
