I agree, crownhaq. I'm guessing the decision to seek only Canadian authors probably relates to where her contacts lie: with Canadian publishers, many of whom receive apparently receive some form of grant or subsidy for publishing Canadian writers.

I think it's because Canadian talent comes with the possibility of getting breaks from the Canadian government or something like that.

I don't get it. Why would you limit yourself to Canadian talent?

I'm not complaining, I am just interested in the business aspect of that.

Her subs have narrowed even further now. According to her web site, she won't look at fiction anymore (whether you're Canadian or not). Non-fiction only.

Website indicates accepting submissions or queries only from "prospective authors who are resident in Canada"

Agent read full manuscript, but did not like the book after all. She did, however, take the trouble to write 2 pages of comments on specific parts of the book from beginning to end.

Received a request for a full 17 days after snail-mailing query, sample pages and plot summary. Agent said it was okay to send full manuscript by-e-mail, so I did.

You don't have to be Canadian, but you to have to be a resident of Canada. Some of the authors she represents were born in other countries, but live in Canada. True, she does ask for a 6-week exclusive, but you send in 50 pages and a plot summary with the initial query, so you don't have to wait a few weeks to see if the wants a partial.
