Always verify agent's information before sending your query. Verify the agent's query preferences, contact information, genres of interest, and if the agent is still open to queries.

Although QueryTracker tries to stay current, it is not always easy. Never trust any single source for agent information (and yes, this includes QueryTracker).

Review the user comments for more information, and always follow exactly what it says on the agent's website.

And NEVER give money to an "agent".

Leave comments about your experiences with this literary agent, or read what other authors have to say.

Probably the most polite rejection ever!
Dear Ms. Allen,

Apologies for the delay and thanks for your gentle reminder. I've just had a look at your pitch, but am sorry to say that I don't think your novel is right for me. Fiction is a very tough sale to make, so in order for me to take on trying to sell a novel, I've got to be extremely enthusiastic about it. Unfortunately, yours just didn't strike me as the kind of story to which I am typically drawn. With very limited time to read manuscripts, I need to focus on projects that seem much more likely to be to my tastes.

Many thanks for your query and best of luck finding the right agent and publisher.
