Seems like a form rejection. Didn't connect with voice.

@LightofBeauty - Thanks for the info. On his reply, Jeff said that if I didn't hear from him within a week it's a 'no'. I thought it was great that he gave me such a tight timeline. The agency is a very prominent one so I figured I'd never hear from them and have to close it out due to no response . . . like so many of them (sigh).

@mlowriter - I queried another agent from this agency who did the same, responded that she's actually going to read it. It seems like this agency in general is a "we'll respond if interested otherwise it's a no" agency, though Jeff DID send me a form rejection, which at least told me that he was looking at it with some interest. Seems like this agency doesn't go out of the way to send forms or responses to everyone, so to get a response at all, good or bad, isn't so bad!

I sent a historical to Jeff and a cozy mystery at the same time - separate emails and accounts. The first line of the query on the cozy I acknowledged that though he doesn't usually read the genre, it is also quirky and funny - which he is interested in. I received a reply (which I assumed was automatic) for the historical but not for the cozy. This makes me think he personally (or his asst) reads the query and if he's going to even just read the letter + first page, he'll let you know. If that's the case, that seems unusual for each query letter to be acknowledged personally - not on auto pilot. Has anyone had the same experience with him or any other agent?
