Always verify agent's information before sending your query. Verify the agent's query preferences, contact information, genres of interest, and if the agent is still open to queries.

Although QueryTracker tries to stay current, it is not always easy. Never trust any single source for agent information (and yes, this includes QueryTracker).

Review the user comments for more information, and always follow exactly what it says on the agent's website.

And NEVER give money to an "agent".

Leave comments about your experiences with this literary agent, or read what other authors have to say.

108K Urban Fantasy (I sent as contemporary fantasy romance)

Was nice to see a short, personalized note from Ms. Diver that clearly indicated she'd reviewed my materials, as she made a few notes re: my genre and writing. Storyline just not the right fit, unfortunately. :(

ER: 5/23 Form, not from agent, but from coordinator. One has to wonder if the agent ever sees the queries? Had same experience from another at the same agency. Not sure how to feel about generic form replies.
I value agents who ask for the query to be sent to them and not an agency email.

Pitched her at a conference at the end of March and she requested a partial. Sent it April third, and have yet to hear back, but I haven't given up yet... (Spec fiction, 86,000 words)

UPDATE: I got an emailed rejection today (about three weeks after sending my partial), but it was incredibly detailed, and also encouraging.

Thank you so much for allowing our agency to consider your material. Unfortunately, after carefully reviewing your query, we’ve determined that this particular project isn’t the right fit for our agency at this time. As I’m sure you know, the publishing industry changes swiftly now, as do readers’ tastes and trends. As a result, our own agents’ needs shift and change, as well; therefore, we would like to encourage you to consider querying us with future projects as you may deem appropriate.

note that it wasn't right at this time and to query again with future work.
