Probably a form letter, but very decent: complimenting my query and the concept and proposing that another agent will be interested.

ER 5/11/18 Form? I suppose, but pleasant.

Thank you so much for thinking of me for your project! I thought your query and sample were well-written with a strong concept but not quite what I’m looking for at the moment. Because I’m careful to keep my client list manageable, I’m being really selective about what I request. However, I think another agent is going to be intrigued enough to ask for the manuscript and I’m sorry I can’t offer a referral.

Good luck with all your publishing endeavors.

I had never heard back in over 6 weeks. I resent according to agency guidelines and heard back 4 days later.

@bookwormwrites it's a form, unfortunately. I got the same one. But it's a nice form!

@gracieprince, that sounds like a personal rejection IMO! I'm sorry it was a no :( Sounds like you have a great project; keep on keepin' on <3

Reached out to her on 10/24/17 to make sure I had submitted the manuscript correctly and found out that it hadn't made it! Sent my manuscript the following day and got confirmation from her assistant that I was successful this time around. :)
ER: 01/04/2018....sounds like a form :(
-Thank you for letting me read [YA Magical Realism] and for your patience as I considered your work. I was glad we were able to connect via NLaPitch. This story has all the elements I love—an interesting premise and a well built world. The writing is solid with a nice voice. A dynamic, interesting protagonist. It’s with a lot of regret I’m going to pass on offering representation. I just didn’t get that “must have” feeling when reading. Because I’m careful to keep my client list manageable, I’m being really selective about what authors/novels I take on. I’m so sorry not to have better news for you.

Stay tough out there. Keep writing!

ER: 01.04.17 Generous personalized rejection but still a no. Sad! Will query her with a different book.

Thank you for letting me read [Title] , and for your patience as I considered your work. I was drawn to the premise of your story instantly and your writing absolutely swept me away. In the end however, I couldn’t quite get my footing with Guy [MC]. Because I don’t think I have the right vision for this project, I think it’s best that I step aside. Thank you again for sharing it with me and I wish you the best of luck in finding [Title] the right home.
