Always verify agent's information before sending your query. Verify the agent's query preferences, contact information, genres of interest, and if the agent is still open to queries.

Although QueryTracker tries to stay current, it is not always easy. Never trust any single source for agent information (and yes, this includes QueryTracker).

Review the user comments for more information, and always follow exactly what it says on the agent's website.

And NEVER give money to an "agent".

Leave comments about your experiences with this literary agent, or read what other authors have to say.

It's been a little over a month, ARealGShaw. Check her submission guidelines and then nudge if it had expired.

No response--unfortunately for me she had just finished a conference the day before & tweeted that she was extremely busy. I didn't check her Twitter page before submitting.

Jessica's note was so nice and her response so quick that it is all the more heart-breaking that this didn't work out. She had some very helpful comments and offered to look at future projects, so I will try to look on the bright side, but awfully disappointed.

Good luck to anyone who is querying her; she seems absolutely amazing.

Thank you, angelscribe! I think querying has shot my nerves at last, because I'm in a total state over this one, bothering all friends and family I've ever had to cross their fingers and toes for me!

I think you should give her a nudge to check on your status, though nudging is optional and up to you.

Jessica requested my partial in July '13 and I submitted it in August '13. Haven't heard back. Most agents say no response = rejection but most also do eventually reply when they've requested the manuscript. Any thoughts about the etiquette re: follow up?

Sent in my Query: 9/25
She replied back less than 15 minutes later and asked me to send her a proposal.
Did not realize she would respond to me so quickly.
Read her email 9/26 and sent her my proposal.
