at the same agency as Jane Dystel and they prefer only one query to the agency

FYI Dystel Goderich & Bourret does not allow you to query another agent at the agency after you have been rejected by one of them. A rejection by one is a rejection by all. I recommend waiting to query them until you 100% sure you have a winning query letter and a solid submission and then sending to your top pick, because you only shot with them.

I submitted a partial on 8/27 in response to her request at a writers conference. Haven't heard back, so sent a (hopefully) polite follow up. She seems way too nice to blow off a submission.

PR: 6/2016
P Sent: 8/27/16
Follow up : 1/30/17

I have withdrawn this submission. Although Jessica had requested the full after receiving sample chapters, she did not respond to the submission or my follow up. A few weeks ago, I emailed that I would withdraw the mss, no hard feelings, unless she let me know it was still under consideration (it's been two years). She did not reply. I'm a little surprised by her silence, as she seems like a lovely person and I thought she'd at least reject me, but sometimes things slip through the cracks. Anyway, alas. I'm disheartened in general by the process but have revised the mss since the submission and I'm moving on.

Submission guidelines say not to query more than one agent at this agency, either simultaneously or sequentially. The agents share queries with each other a lot, so a NO from one agent is a NO from all the agents there. Guidelines also say to re-query if you have not had a response to your query within 8 weeks.

EQ: 11/6/17
(query + first 25 pages. Requires the manuscript pages to be double spaced when they're pasted into the email. Not always easy to assure.)

I met her at a writers conference recently and she seems great, very nice and very present and attentive and interested.

It's been a little over a month, ARealGShaw. Check her submission guidelines and then nudge if it had expired.
