YA Speculative

Anyone know if a no from one is a no from all at New Leaf? The submission guidelines say not to query more than one agent, but I wasn't sure if it was more than one agent, period, or just not more than one at a time.

Hi alibryn, Devin is her new assistant. She put out a call for a interns on twitter so it looks like she picked one. You can find her info on their website. I think I read somewhere that Joanna reads all her queries, and Suzie has said that the interns sometimes read the manuscripts first (though the agents read them too) and gives them a written report on it. She may be copying Devin just to keep her updated that she has responded to the manuscript.

Little bit confused and, of course, disappointed.

Joanna, or an assistant, requested my full. They got my book title wrong in the email, but I didn't mind!

Then I got a rejection. It doesn't seem like a form, but it feels like one apart from one sentence, with nothing applicable, feedback-wise. All emails between us have CC'ed someone called Devin (new assistant? or reader?), and the rejection email *also* had my book title mixed up.

Not sure if I was rejected by Joanna or Devin, but either way, a bit of a disheartening episode. I've queried Joanna in the past on 2 other manuscripts, but this was the first time she ever replied. It's always hard to learn that an agent you long thought would "get" your writing absolutely doesn't. But now I know.
