Always verify agent's information before sending your query. Verify the agent's query preferences, contact information, genres of interest, and if the agent is still open to queries.

Although QueryTracker tries to stay current, it is not always easy. Never trust any single source for agent information (and yes, this includes QueryTracker).

Review the user comments for more information, and always follow exactly what it says on the agent's website.

And NEVER give money to an "agent".

Leave comments about your experiences with this literary agent, or read what other authors have to say.

Was contacted by the agent to set up a phone interview. After rescheduling and then no answer at the designated time, I assume she has changed her mind about speaking with me, but never informed me of this.

Very quick response. Despite the rejection, she offered some incredibly timely and useful feedback!

Got a quick but polite rejection from Claire because she said my genre didn't match her specialty. Surprised she contacted me over the weekend. Also said there might trouble trying get a book published as an anonymous author, that I might have to put my name to it.

queried 01/22/15. Single in the CIA, memoir. received almost immediate response back asking for more information (how I had heard about her, any other agents, etc.) This was a first for me.

She requested a full a bit later on 01/22/15. Hopeful on this one, she seems great.

update - nudged on 02/20 and received rejection.

I did read it. I like the concept but on reflection, I'm not confident I could find a publisher for it. Reluctantly, I think I must step aside. Thanks so much for letting me see it!

Claire responded within two hours of my website query. We spoke on the phone the next morning, and she requested an exclusive. She sold our book within two weeks to Lyon's Press/Rowman & Littlefield for good terms.

I submitted a query to Claire and she emailed asking to speak over the phone. She told me that my book didn't fall in women's fiction or YA and she didn't seem to know about the New Adult genre (or at least wasn't interested in repp'ing it). She offered some great advice and said she would take another look if I decided to revise.

kind kind rejection -- suggestion to self-pub -- hope this isn't code for "you might as well self pub because it is so awful no agent will come near it..."

:
Your memoir sounds very credible and quite fascinating, Alas, I read many equally impressive memoir proposals, and

wish that I could sell more of them. Right now, the market is very tight and editors want "platform, platform, platform!"

That means, how many people know you as a "household word"--and it's unfair, because very few writers can claim to be

instantly recognizable.

For that reason, I suggest you publish this worthwhile book yourself, retain all the rights to the material, and enjoy the financial

fruits of your labors. The publishing industry is changing, and while traditional publishing is in crisis, there are more options for

talented writers than ever before. I do wish you the best in choosing the right option for you.

We talked for a short time and she gave me helpful advice about my proposal. She also will send it to someone who may be able to help me with it. Seems like a lovely woman. Alas, no rep yet.

Claire asked for my proposal on the 15th of May. I have not received a response but i know this all takes time. She seems like a lovely person and I have heard nothing but good things about her. WIll see what happens....

The fastest, kindest rejection ever.
Good luck to those with partials and fulls out with her, she seems lovely.
