I have egg all over my face today. I just discovered that I sent Simon Lipskar a query in April and then turned around and sent a query to Alec Shane in May. That's probably why I have not heard from either. My bad!

Emailed both an apology.

Thank you for passing along the requested materials; we appreciate your thinking of Simon for this one.

Despite the intriguing premise, this isn’t quite right for him. He’s rarely taking on new clients these days and unfortunately we’re simply not wholeheartedly connecting with the material. Lacking that genuine, visceral engagement with a project right out of the gate, which is so important to an agent’s advocacy for a client, we’ve decided step aside here.

We extend the best wishes that you are able to secure that properly enthusiastic representation that you deserve.

Best,

Thank you for thinking of Simon for your query.
Unfortunately your book does not seem like one we could successfully represent at this time. Our client list is quite full, and we are only able to offer representation to a very small number of projects, so we’re going to step aside with best wishes and that you are able to secure properly enthusiastic representation.

Dear Remember,

Thanks for thinking of Simon for your query.

Alas, Simon's so rarely taking on new clients these days, and while the premise of this one is certainly intriguing, unfortunately the sample materials here aren't quite hitting us square between the eyes in that rare way that we know makes a project the right fit for him (and him for it). Lacking that passionate connection, it's best that we step aside here.

We wish you and your work the greatest of luck and success.

All best,
Taylor

Does anyone know if Simon Lipskar, or his assistant Taylor Templeton, sends confirmation emails upon receipt of manuscripts? I accidentally forgot to change my subject line from Query to Requested Materials when I submitted mine last week, and I'm not sure if I might get lost in the deluge of queries or automatically deleted as a query with a forbidden attachment.

I almost sent a follow up email to see if she got it, but I don't want to seem obnoxious. Cause I'm not. Paranoid and anxious, maybe, but not obnoxious.
