I just received a rejection from Celia, his assistant, at 99 days from the original query.

It will be eight weeks since my query on next Tuesday. I have already CNRed this one, but because writers house doesn’t allow double submissions I plan to nudge on that date. I have others on my list from this agency that I would love to work with, but chose him first because of some of the people he reps. Kinda disappointing to not hear back, especially when looking at his timeline compared to others.

This agent seems generous with the sample/ms requests but don't get too excited...

EQ 11/27/17 (Requery Venom)
PR: 2/20/17 (50 page partial from his assistant Celia after two nudges and said it was intriguing.)
ER: 12/13/18 (Passed--though she apologized for the long wait, she said that Simon had full list, didn't think he could rep it and didn't connect.) So disappointing.

I have egg all over my face today. I just discovered that I sent Simon Lipskar a query in April and then turned around and sent a query to Alec Shane in May. That's probably why I have not heard from either. My bad!

Emailed both an apology.

6/1/17 FR
7/6/`7 ER (nice rejection letter...if that's any consolation)

Thank you for passing along the requested materials; we appreciate your thinking of Simon for this one.

Despite the intriguing premise, this isn’t quite right for him. He’s rarely taking on new clients these days and unfortunately we’re simply not wholeheartedly connecting with the material. Lacking that genuine, visceral engagement with a project right out of the gate, which is so important to an agent’s advocacy for a client, we’ve decided step aside here.

We extend the best wishes that you are able to secure that properly enthusiastic representation that you deserve.
