That was fast! :D

Update 1/3/2019:
When I said "that was fast!" I apparently spoke too soon. She has had my partial for 322 days now. I emailed her back in November to make sure she hadn't just forgotten about it, and to see if I could resend her the partial, as I had revised it some since February. She got back to me and apologized for being so behind, and told me to go ahead and send her the revised partial, saying she hadn't read it yet. I went ahead and sent it, hoping that she would try and make time to actually read it. Well, I still haven't heard back. I feel like I am being strung along. If she isn't interested enough in my story to read the partial she requested nearly a year ago, I wish she'd just reject me already. :/

Update 2/19/19:
Still nothing. :/

Update 3/20/19:
CNR, and I went ahead and emailed Emily to officially withdraw my manuscript from consideration, because it has been over a year since she requested it, and I'd like to query another agent at Fuse.

It was a partial form rejection but she inserted some personal things. She said she just hadn't had good luck with MG time-travel stories, she didn't know why. I really appreciated that.

Well, I'm impressed. She'd skipped so far ahead of me, I thought I'd never get a response at all. Disappointing, but not unexpected. I've rewritten the query and the first few chapters anyway.

175 days for a form letter rejection. I can't decide if I'm impressed she bothered or not.

Waiting on reply for 145k suspense, thriller, sci-fi.

While I wait, and I encourage y'all to do the same, get the mailing list together for pre-launching. Update your blogs, twitter, face-pages, and other social media memberships you're a part of. Maybe even become members with the slant of your author status. Clean your profiles of unwanted advertisements and do some networking with those you're linked to. Not pushy but letting people know you exist and are a positive individual. Make it easy on your future agent, will ya? Set-up your website or do your research for what website provider you'll use and supplies you'll need to accommodate visitors. Maybe some merchandise designs from your links of networking communities. Myself, my brother, and daughters happen to be well established sought after artist, and graphic artists. I got lucky. Start marketing initiatives and pre-launch ideas for success.
You see, the thing is that agents know the business, but they can't do ALL the heavy lifting. Your books are, and will only be, as good as your continuing effort. Here's a tidbit for you guys. Fifty Shades of Grey was a self-published novel based on a fan fiction dialog for Twilight lovers. The writing was poor, BUT... the fan base was already there. She had done her marketing and became a success. She was an Indie author, y'all.
