Polite personal, timely response. (Probably a modified form rejection, but nice.)

[via website] Adriana represents children’s books for all ages, including fiction and narrative nonfiction, as well as illustrators and author-illustrators. She also represents select narrative non-fiction for adults. She has a long trajectory of publishing underrepresented authors and illustrators, and always welcomes submissions that offer diverse points of view. She is also an award-winning translator.

Illustrators: I am currently only open to illustrators and author-illustrators, with a special emphasis on illustrators from underrepresented backgrounds. I’m interested in artists with fresh, unmistakable styles that are all their own, and on bringing more diverse perspectives into the market.

She opened to queries on Jan. 15. I waited until then and queried her. I received an automatic confirmation that my query was received. Months later I still hadn't received a response. I later learned that she immediately closed to queries and never responded to those who queried her when she initially opened to queries. She just did the same thing. She opened to queries on April 15, according to her agency's website. I queried her and once again received an automatic confirmation of my query's receipt. She immediately closed again to queries and didn't respond to those who queried her. I only learned of her closing (again) via Query Tracker (which I then confirmed via the agency's website - she's listed as closed again). She's only open to those she's met at conferences. I give up with this agent... the least she could do is respond to those who queried her when she briefly opened to queries before immediately closing to them.

I queried pbs btw.

Hi, Patrick. Just a heads up that according to the Full Circle Literary website Ms. Domínguez opened up to queries again as of April 15th.

It said online that she was open to queries beginning January 15, 2018. I queried her at 6am. No response.

Profile Update: Open to queries.

Her website had her open last week, then closed again. But it looks like this time her opening is for real.
