debbie_rosenberg58, I'm not sure they're even in business anymore. They don't answer emails and their website hasn't been updated in years. Back in 2015 they were sending out auto replies that said they were closing their doors. There's just been no way to confirm. But I think it's about time I assume they're gone. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Patrick, I don't see where they are closed to queries. Perhaps open now?

I received an email stating that the agency was closing and that they were not accepting anymore queries.

Here's what the email stated: "Thank you for contacting Manus & Associates. Unfortunately, we are shutting our doors at the end of this year and therefore, not taking submissions anymore. Best of luck in your future endeavors."

I just received this:
From:
"Jillian Manus"

I will be completely out of communication until the end of August. I will not be responding to emails nor can I be reached by phone. My assistant, Theresa van Eeghen, will do her best to handle all pressing issues.

Queried Jandy Nelson. Rec'd the following response immediately:
Thank you for your email. I am currently on sabbatical. Please contact Penny Nelson at penny@manuslit.com or Theresa van Eeghen at theresa@manuslit.com for assistance. I will not be taking on new clients at this time. If this is a query and you would like to resubmit to Manus & Associates Literary Agency, please visit our website (www.manuslit.com) and read the bios of our agents to see to whom it would be the best to submit. Jillian Manus and Dena Fischer represent both fiction and nonfiction projects. Penny Nelson represents exclusively nonfiction projects.

I wish you the best with your writing!

Warmest Wishes,
Jandy Nelson

Finally got my submission back, six months after I submitted it. Not a form rejection letter, just a form note.

Sent snail mail submission on April 25. Query, proposal, sample chapters, as they requested. They say they always respond to snail mail submissions, but still nothing. It's been more than three months. Any idea how long I should wait?

Hi Eva. They have a Flash site, so you may try updating your Flash software. Worth a try anyway. To update, go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

Sent Ms. Manus an e-mail query and after 5 months and no response, tried Stephanie Lee. She responded to my query in 3 weeks.
