I have a partial with this agent and didn't receive a notification that she's leaving. I'm guessing that either means I'm still being considered by the agency or I was simply overlooked. Anyone in the same boat?

Recieved reject on a partial today from September. Very nice and apologetic for taking so long. I have others that have been out longer so I thought that was nice. Too bad she's leaving agenting.

Got my email last night, too. Hilariously, this is the second time I've had material with an agent who then decided to leave the industry...Though I'm sure it's not the case, I keep picturing them reading my manuscript, tossing it down angrily, and being like "That's it! I quit!"
Ha! Back to querying...

Got my partial reject today, and it was helpful. She said my story was too complicated. That is better than nothing.

Got the same reject on my partial about Ms. Hackenberg deciding to leave agenting, and the rest of the agency won't be expanding its YA representation.

Sad news, Guys...

Thank you for submitting your manuscript for consideration to our agency. I have decided to leave agenting, and the Elaine English Literary Agency will not be expanding its YA representation at this time. Therefore, we are no longer able to consider your manuscript.

We wish you the best in finding strong representation for your work, and thank you again for giving me the opportunity to consider this project.

Best regards,

Naomi

A post on their blog from 2/8: Just a brief update from the agency on submissions. As of February 15th, 2011, the agency will be closed to new queries due to the large volume of submissions currently under consideration. Queries submitted to Elaine or Naomi after the 15th will be deleted unread. Stay tuned to the website and blog for updates. Thanks!

Evvie2, the first time Ms. Hackenberg requested a partial of mine (back in November 2009), she asked that I e-mail it to her. When she requested a partial for another manuscript in December 2010, she asked that I upload it to the agency's online submission tracker thingy.

Since your case is unique, I'm sure e-mailing it was fine. If you're worried about it, though, you could check in with her and make sure she received it. She's really nice. I'm sure she wouldn't have a problem with that.

Best of luck!
