Domestic thriller, 78000 words
EQ: June 10, 2019 (Query portal)
FR: June 11, 2019 (Dear [my name], I have read your query for [my title] and it looks interesting. Please follow the instructions below to upload your full manuscript. I'm looking forward to reading more! Many thanks, Jill)
I uploaded my manuscript immediately as a doc.x file. I will update this thread when I receive a response.

I am updating but not with a response. Just to give an idea of timeframe. I sent my FR in on June 11th. As of August 21, I still haven't heard back.

Another update: I withdrew my query today (September 2) because I have received some agent feedback and decided to do a rewrite.

fjcavallo: Thank you for your honest, if disappointing feedback. I hope other agents are more generous. As I continue on the query-go-round, I'm starting to notice certain tactics. This may be one where an agent requests a lot of manuscripts and holds onto them -- almost like an exclusive -- until you alert them you've received an offer, and then they jump on it and decide within a specific timeframe whether they want to offer, too. Otherwise, they may not even look at the fulls they request, or only glance at them when the writer nudges without an offer. This is just speculation on my part, but either way the situation is dreary for the writer. Hope your manuscript finds the perfect home. :-) Don't let this bit of the process get you bogged down. I just keep writing and self-publish if the manuscripts don't find traditional pathways. I don't know if it's the way to go, but I'm on my 11th novel (I think), and I feel far more empowered about my writing career because of it. Good luck!!

Electronic Query: 4/29
Full Request: 4/29
Thriller 81k words
8/27 -- I rarely nudge, but at the 120 day mark I felt comfortable dropping a short, polite note.
8/28 -- About 24 hours post-nudge, I got what I assume was a form email rejection. "While there was a lot to like here, I just don't have the passion, yada yada..."
Pulling no punches (because why should we?) I was honestly hoping that by holding on to my manuscript for four months, she was giving it some serious consideration, and there would maybe be some actual feedback on a "no." Sadly, just more of the same -- rejection and ambiguity.

'Thank you for thinking of us with SHADOW-STAINED but the project does not look like a fit for me at this time. I'm being extremely selective with fiction these days and this is a very subjective decision on my part. So I'm sure another agent or editor will feel differently.'

Giving up on this one...

FR via PitMad: 6.9.18
Nudged 9.4.18 - response that she was busy keeping up with existing clients over summer
FR #2 via PitMad: 12.6.18 - reminded her she already had MS from June PitMad, but sent her revised version after doing a non-exclusive R&R with another agency that ended in a pass in the interim
Email response: 12.11.18 - she thanked me for the revised version and said she hopes to catch up with submissions after the holidays
Haven't heard anything as of 4.11.19
*Update* 4.26.19 Withdrew MS due to offer of rep on a different MS. Jill sent a congrats email.
