Form response

Thank you so much for reaching out. Geri isn’t quite the right match for your work, but we hope you find the perfect advocate for your writing. Wishing you all the best as you move forward with your search for representation, and we hope to see this on shelves one day.

Mine didn't mention finding the concept engaging or suggest I reach out to others so less encouraging variation on the form others received...literary fiction

E-Query: 6/25/17
E-Rejection: 7/11/17
Literary Fiction: 100,000 words
Sent 30 pages and a summary of where story goes from there, per guidelines
Here is the rejection, which, I guess is a form rejection:

Thank you so much for reaching out, and for your patience. Geri is taking on very little fiction these days (about a novel per year), and while we think your writing is lovely, she’s just not connecting to the characterization quite enough to pursue. Do feel free to try someone else at Writers House if you’d like. Wishing you all the best as you move forward with your search for representation, and we hope to see this on shelves one day.
All best wishes,
Andrea

Thank you so much for your query. While we found your concept to be engaging, we don’t feel that your work is right for Geri at this time. Due to a very full client list, we need to be especially selective about pursuing new projects.

Someone else may have an extremely different approach that better fits your needs, and that is better suited to you and your work. We hope you find the right advocate for your projects. Thank you again for thinking of us, and we wish you the best of luck in finding representation.

When at first you don't succeed, start over at the top. I am trotting down to the P.O. this afternoon with a query for Simon Lipskar. Received this by email yesterday (in response to my 3/18/15 EQ):

Dear Remember,

Thank you so much for your query. While we found your concept to be engaging, we don’t feel that your work is right for us at this time. Due to a very full client list, we need to be especially selective about pursuing new projects.

Agents’ tastes vary—this is a subjective business, and someone else may have an extremely different approach that better fits your needs, and that is better suited to you and your writing. Thank you again for thinking of us, and we wish you the best of luck in finding representation.

All best,
Andrea

Personal and detailed Rej 2/24

A very kind and detailed three paragraph critique in the rejection. Not taking on very much fiction these days so very selective. Sigh, a disappointment after a long wait, but so complimentary that I can't help but feel a bit buoyed by it.
