I hate to add to the pile-on, but I've queried Mitchell twice for two separate projects, and both times he has enthusiastically requested the full manuscript within minutes before vanishing into thin air. He seems like a nice enough person, but I think he just needs a good assistant to help him manage his queries and submissions. This repeated ghosting after requesting material from authors is concerning and unprofessional, and it seems to be hurting his reputation among potential new clients, which is too bad, because he otherwise strikes me as being better than this.

He requested my manuscript after being passed my query by Gail Hochman. Ninety days later I nudged him, and he said he "was already reading it" (or something like that), and would be back to me this weekend. I knew from this forum that he often doesn't respond to manuscripts and to emails. I never heard from him again, and I closed out the submission ninety days later after getting another offer from an agent. Judging by query tracker, I'd advise against going with him. You don't want an agent who doesn't respond to your emails.

FR : 7/7/2020 Same day
He made a point of advising us to limit our query and submission process. Said he would read soon.
10/2 after not hearing for almost three months I wrote to ask if he could give a sense of when he intends to read. No answer.
12/11 With still no response I wrote again to say I’d received a request for an exclusive read but would delay if he thought he would read soon. Told him I would very much appreciate a response. Still nothing.
At this point I gave up on The errant Mr. Waters and went with the agent requesting an exclusive.
I was grateful to read others posting similar experiences here which helped me adjust my expectations.

I worked with Mitchell for two years, went through four rounds of submissions, only two rejections. The rest were no response. He responded to email sporadically after two face-to-face meetings. He was too busy to read any new material. He quit Curtis Brown and never said a word. Only found out because his assistant was reading my emails (at least someone was).

Patrick, I just saw this tweet: Agent Alert: Mitchell Waters is joining Brandt and Hochman as a senior agent. Keep an eye out for his #MSWL once he's settled!
