I sent Christa a mg manuscript back in 2019 and she requested a full. Then I've nudged her twice, once in August 2019, then in December 2019. She got back to me both times the same day to say yes, she would read it, she was backlogged. Now it is March and nothing. Closed this one out.

Not passing judgment only experience and yes, a form on a full is better than silence.

Good luck guys.

I'm not sure if her policy has changed in the last year or so, but I received a full request from Christa in August 2019 that took several months to receive a reply to. She takes a bit longer than the "standard" average (6+ months as opposed to 3-4). I checked in with her twice and she responded both times. I would definitely check in if it's been longer than her stated response time

I don't believe it is fair to pass this judgement on her due to the actions of someone else who ignored you. Christa may have replied if you had nudged her. Regardless, I'm sorry this has been your experience, it's very frustrating to be ghosted by an agent after submitting a full and the very least they can do is offer some closure. Even a form rejection is better than endless silence. I hope you find the right champion for your work!

Fictiongirl- since so much time passed I didn’t even bother. Besides, when I reached out to another agent she ignored me so I just left it alone.

MLStou- Thank you! I appreciate it.

Eye-opening thread, Rabbie. Don't know how I missed it, I love @bookavid. I think they are sincere with their advice and offers to help people. I'm so sorry this is happening to you. Wishing you the best.

@Rabbie did you try reaching out to her or are you just awaiting a response? Have you nudged?

Hi there. Please read this thread:

I’m going by personal experience. How many of us have dealt with the lack of response around the same time. Also let me rephrase, I’m not calling Christa a racist. I don’t know her. I would never assume such a thing. But if you read that thread seems like a lot of agents, including Christa, were soliciting projects from us Black writers and then stopped responding when things died down. I’m letting anyone know — whos still waiting for a response — that it was an ongoing issue about being ghosted by many of these agents and sadly, Christa ghosted me too after participating in wanting to help.

Rabbie, have you tried nudging? Honestly, I don't think it's fair to the agent or yourself to pull submissions and post that it was racially motivated without trying to reach out to them first. A submission from June 2020 may sound like it's been too long, but in all actuality, that's the way the business is. Especially during the pandemic. Things are moving even slower. I just reached out to an agent who has had my full since June 1, 2020 and she said she has been so behind on reading submissions, but ensured me that she was almost caught up with only 18 left from before she closed to queries. I don't know what the discussion on twitter was that you're referring to so I could be way off. I wish you luck in finding the right agent for you.

Update: a really unfortunate discussion is going on Twitter right now and I feel the need to speak up and not hide this anymore. I am a Black writer and was ghosted on a full request by Christa last summer when agents solicited projects during the unfortunate tragic death of George Floyd.

I am going to put this on all profiles that did this to me personally only to raise awareness and to be cautious of what is right and what is wrong.
This wasn’t right.

FR: 6-03-20 - requested full after help with query
1-18-21 - since a great amount of time has passed it ended up being a CNR

Rabbie, I'm really freaking sorry that happened to you. This performative allyship is disgusting. Withdrawing my submission immediately.
