Joe Regal is a co-founder of Zola Books...and he's not done a book deal since 2010, so appears he's probably not representing authors any longer.

I noticed AFTER I sent the query that QueryTracker says he's closed to queries. I don't think the website says that, and it wasn't mentioned in the letter, so I am guessing that he is, again, open (just not to MY query ... ).

Memoir/pop culture.

According to PublishersLunch, "Regal stepped aside from the agency at the end of last year," but the agency "continues normal operations under the direction of Markus Hoffmann." Future queries might be better directed to other agents at Regal.

Got a request for a partial from Leigh Huffine. Queried 5/2/12; partial request on 5/20/12.

Not necessarily. I also submitted to Michael Strong and the reply I received stated he is working in a different capacity for the agency. It also stated that they would like to see a full, and with the other agents looking at genres other than what I write, it looks like it might be in the hands of Joe Regal. Hope so.

Well, not sure where to post my rejection for Regal Lit. I sent a query to Mr. Strong at Regal Lit? I see there's no one there by that name. This is not the same query i posted here last year. I guess it was rejected solely on the fact that I addressed it to someone who doesn't work there. Live and learn, I guess..

Patrick, I believe he's an associate agent. He did ask for my partial this spring from Joe Regal. He was on GLA's blog. Maybe he changed gears. I don't know. He's listed in the new issue of GLA and on the website for Regal.
