10/06 queried Gina. 145k sci-fi
11/07 kind rejection.
Gina, or Tia her assistant, was more than I had expected for a rejection. Her e-mail was well received and she told me, "We think the story sounds interesting, but it's not quite right for our list at this time."
I know it's a rejection non the less, but her tact in wording was genuine and sincere. It helped me to believe she had read what I sent... even if it was before the latest revisions I've made. She's a good agent in my opinion, for whatever that helps others in their decision making.

This agent is all over the place. Save your TIME and send your query to someone who knows what they are doing. If you get a request for a manuscript you'll never hear back. Not a yes OR no just NOTHING.

Initial EQ sent May of 2017, and got a request for the MS the same day.

In June/July of 2017 I was told that my MS had gone through a "very positive first read" and that Gina was wondering if the book was still available for representation. Good vibes for sure.

I didn't hear back for a couple months. After I sent a couple of emails wondering what was going on, Gina was kind enough to call me in November 2017. She had some positive feedback and wanted a few revisions, but certainly made it seem like we were on the right track - though no representation was officially offered. I actually had work off, so I was able to work full-time on the MS for a couple weeks and sent a heavily revised copy (based on feedback from Gina and others) back later that same month.

Since then, nothing. Here we are in October 2018, and I'm still not sure where I stand. In March 2018 Gina replied to a follow-up I sent and indicated that my revisions were received and I was "in process." In July 2018 I emailed Gina's intern Tia directly, and she told that Gina had read the MS and was compiling notes and would get back to me.

I sent another email on 10/12 requesting a final update. I'm trying to keep the faith, but it seems pretty clear my window of opportunity has passed.

I sent Gina a query on 10/06
Waiting on reply for 145k suspense, thriller, sci-fi.

While I wait, and I encourage y'all to do the same, get the mailing list together for pre-launching. Update your blogs, twitter, face-pages, and other social media memberships you're a part of. Maybe even become members with the slant of your author status. Clean your profiles of unwanted advertisements and do some networking with those you're linked with. Not pushy but letting people know you exist and are a positive individual. Make it easy on your future agent, will ya? Set-up your website or do your research for what website provider you'll use and supplies you'll need to accommodate visitors. Start marketing initiatives and pre-launch ideas for success.
You see, the thing is that agents know the business, but they can't do ALL the heavy lifting. Your books are, and will only be, as good as your continuing effort. Here's a tidbit for you guys. Fifty Shades of Grey was a self-published novel based on a fan fiction dialog for Twilight lovers. The writing was poor, BUT... the fan base was already there. She had done her marketing and became a success. She was an Indie author, y'all.

ER: 6/20/18, Nice note with a small bit of personal feedback.

Interestingly, I received another rejection from Tia Mele, with different feedback, today, October 10, from the same query sent last May. It looks like Gina forwarded it to Tia, and/or forgot she already responded to me.

Gina's assistant Tianna Mignogna wrote me a personalized email. It's the first rejection I've received out of 10 that was actually personalized and not a form letter. Even though it was a rejection, I was thrilled! It was super helpful to get even a little bit of feedback. Thanks to Tianna's email, I ended up revising my query extensively after that.
