Both times I queried her I received nice rejection notes with a small amount of feedback, signed by Gina, not an assistant.

So in reading jubilee's comment, "Intern emailed saying she has passed my manuscript and a recommendation to the agents," I'm REALLY wondering... I received a request from Abigayel, then a full request from her, then a form rejection from her. Never did she mention passing the MS on to Gina. Does this mean Gina never saw it? I know a lot agents operate that way, using their assistants as gatekeepers because they simply don't have time, but I also know some insist on reading everything themselves. There's no way to know which it is here, but I feel like I got a form rejection on a full from an assistant when the agent herself maybe never saw the query to begin with.

Hi jubilee. What’s the name of the intern who no longer works at Talcott Notch? Thanks!

10/9/17 - Intern emailed saying she has passed my manuscript and a recommendation to the agents. I'm hoping this means she read it and liked it!
12/11/17 - emailed intern letting her know about revision after receiving non-exclusive R&R from another agent
12/14.17 - intern answered saying they see positive revisions so far and will get back as to if they decided to represent. She emailed again today asking about where I am in the process with the other agent(s) who are interested in ms so they can determine if they have enough time and resources to adequately consider the revision. Emailed back letting her know the details. Fingers crossed! The communication has been great so far!

1/15/17 - emailed Gina directly as the assistant I'd been corresponding with no longer works there. Gina emailed back saying she's reading the project and has a number of notes she's been making that she'll be forwarding to me shortly for my consideration, and that she looks forward to speaking to me then. Eep!

Nice note with helpful feedback, as always. Sent a nudge on 11/20 and again today, with a quick response to this second nudge.

A rejection on my full MS today, with a paragraph of extremely detailed notes and specific reasoning as to why they decided to pass. I couldn't be more impressed with how thoroughly they considered the manuscript. Lots of respect for this agency!

10/3 - Assistant Abigayel requested partial from DVPit
10/5 - Abigayel requested full
12/5 - Form rejection:

"Thank you very much for your patience as we reviewed your manuscript from DVPit. Regrettably, we have decided not to represent your novel based on what we are seeking to represent in this genre. We are sorry to decline at such a late point in time, but nonetheless we wish you the best of luck with this charming story."

I really, really wish that when agents/assistants requested a full and seemingly took time to at least read part of it, they would give just one sentence as to why they rejected it. I've really racked up the full rejections on 3 manuscripts now, with no in-depth feedback as to why. Trying not to be disheartened after all these years. Was really excited about this one.

4/6/17: Gina suggested I raise my word count and tone down my scariness level. She also noted that she would be happy to reconsider if I made these revisions.
5/27/17: Upon making these revisions, I submitted my full.

I'm looking forward to hearing from her. Even if she decides not to represent me, this has been a positive experience. She offered me advice she didn't need to offer me. No other agent has ever done this for me. Maybe it's more common than I think, but this is the first time I've encountered such professionalism.
