QL - sent June 10, 2021 at 3:40 p.m.
Rejection rcvd June 11, 9:50 a.m.
- quick turn around and a nice letter of rejection:

"Thank you so much for querying BookEnds and for giving me the opportunity to review <my book>. After reading your letter I just don't feel that I'm the right agent for your work.
I'm sorry I don't have better news. I am lucky to have a very full and active client list and for that reason, I've become very particular about taking on new clients. As I'm sure you know, publishing is very subjective and it's quite possible you'll find someone else who feels differently. Maybe even here at BookEnds. I encourage you to review our submissions page to see if another BookEnds agent might be better suited to your work.
I wish you all the best in your search for representation and thank you again for giving BookEnds the opportunity.
Best,
Jessica Faust, President

I just saw on her Instagram that she went on vacation, so there might be some delays in her responses.

Rejection form letter received in less than 24 hours.
However, it was kind and stated that she has a very full and active client load and suggested that I submit to other agents at their agency.

Jessica skipped my sub and went ahead to reject a few. Does she ever turn back, in anyone's experience, or should I consider mine CNR?

Update: She got back a month later, saying I have a good query but the writing isn't for her. The rest is form, as for Lancast87er. Another agent is also a fit so I might query the agency again.

Hi blue2280,
I bet Jessica would be fine if you queried her again with the same story if you're able to get your wordcount down—she has a YouTube video about requerying agents you might want to check out. It would be an undertaking getting it from 156K to that like, sweet spot of around 90K (or whatever the appropriate typical wordcount is for your genre), but I bet you can do it. Congrats, that's a lovely rejection!

Wonderful reply from her but was rejected based on word count (156 for family saga/suspense), but with the following comments:

"I was definitely intrigued and, based on your query, this is a book I would be interested in. However, it was your word count that made me decide to pass. Remember that the long road to publishing includes many bumps. Keep writing and persevering until they are forced to say yes. I do hope you'll query me again."

Stating her wish for me to query her again... I am wondering if I am able to reduce word count for my project, it means she would be willing to read it... I def don't want to query her again with the same project though if that is not what she is saying but is referring to possible future projects ...
