From her blog I really like the things Jessica Faust has to say. Her response was a nice response that I did appreciate. She also said I might find a fit with someone else at BookEnds, so I queried another agent, but I have not heard anything from her. Her timeline indicates she has reviewed people before and after me. I don't know what this means, but it has been quite some time now since I sent it. I notice the offers on other books not just at BookEnds but the offers are 60-80% for YA. I don't write YA books so I'm not in the most popular genre but I can't write what I don't feel. You would think that market would get flooded pretty soon.

Form Letter:

Thank you so much for querying BookEnds and for giving me the opportunity to review SILENCING SISTINE. After reading your letter I just don't feel that I'm the right agent for your work.

I'm sorry I don't have better news. As an agent with an established list, I've become very selective about taking on new clients and it's quite possible you'll find someone else who feels differently. Maybe even here at BookEnds. Please feel free to review our Submissions page. Since many of our agents have similar interests you might find someone else who is better suited to your work.

I wish you all the best in your search for representation and thank you again for giving BookEnds the opportunity.

She explained she had a very established client list, and took on new writers very rarely. Strongly suggested I approach someone else there.

Thanks alysnyder. But memoir isn't listed for her here either.

cterlson, I also got: "For that reason, I would strongly suggest you take a second look at some of the other agents at BookEnds in your search for the right fit." It's her form, but she's such a supportive and awesome agent for all writers, even those she doesn't represent, that I'm not surprised her form rejection is supportive and encouraging, too.
