btw, I did not see any limitations on query character length like previous postings mention. mine was slightly over 1,000 characters, and it was submitted with no issues.

I closed this one out to query Elias Altman, a new agent at ZSH -- it doesn't look like he has a page here yet.

still waiting to hear back on a partial sent at the end of January, by now I'm figuring a no - but another agent asked for the full since and I'm waiting on that one which has been about 6 weeks now, so still hoping.
Keeping on.

ashleystro -- I only wish agents were knocking on my door for my book! ; ) I think they just don't want you sending your manuscript (ie, send a query letter and they'll "solicit" you for a submission if they want to).

"We regret that we cannot accept unsolicited submissions of any kind." Does this not mean the whole agency is technically closed to submissions? Of course, maybe you're all lucky enough to be solicited. :)

thanks for sharing your story, aldernans, and best of luck. I love your attitude -- and, it's hard to remember sometimes but taking pride and/or joy in our writing is the most important thing. :)

Query sent 1/26
2 chapters requested 1/27
Sent a week later, still waiting, 3/28/15, in the meantime I've been back through the ms three times, and got out a total of 25 queries for this memoir, three rejects, and nothing else so far. I'm sorry not to have posted this sooner, but I have a new job that has kept me pretty busy, and I've been trying to squeeze the writing between that and being a mom. Janet Silver is fantastic, I'm in love with the book Wild, so even if she says no, heck I'm glad she's taken a look, and I feel great about what I sent her.

Memoir

Wow! cutting my normal 2300-word query down to 1000 CHARACTERS was a bear! But it was an interesting exercise in getting to the core of what the book is about.
