I sent a snail mail query to her and received a kind note in response - she is not accepting any new clients (and it doesn't sound like that will change in the future).

Just received the following auto response:
Thank you for your submission. We will make every effort to review it in a timely manner. Please feel free to contact us again if you have not heard back from us within two weeks.
Thank you again.
Sincerely,

3/17/2011 Submitted BIOGRAPHY via their on line form, but the drop down menu to insert a date only went up to 2010 - so have no idea if they are actively even looking at the submissions. No choice to single out an agent.

For what it's worth, someone at absolutewrite claims to have been signed by the agency/Carolyn French in a relatively recent post. [I have no way to verify that.]

Also, I don't see anything about a review at Preditors & Editors as of 2010. Any investigation may have had something to do with the founder drying and the effect that's likely to have on an agency. (Obit link can be found in that thread, as well.)

Preditors & Editors have this agency under review for possibly charging reading fees. Nothing is confirmed yet, but you should be careful just the same. Then again, you should always be careful and never pay an agent upfront fees for anything.
