I want to thank you personally for giving me the opportunity to read your work. I understand the querying process can be difficult at times, and want you to know how seriously we consider each project we receive at Folio Literary Management. I am sorry to say, though, that unfortunately I do not have a place on my current list to take this on.

Please keep in mind that every agent has different tastes and sensibilities, and even more or less bandwidth to take on new projects at any given time. And this is a crazily subjective business. What does not work for one agent may work perfectly for another, and I encourage you to continue your search for someone to champion your work, and trust you will find the agent (or publisher) your work absolutely clicks with.

Please know I wish you all the best,

He will not respond to "categories that lie outside his personal interest" (according to his web page on He says his has no interest in horror, sci-fi, fantasy. So you might think he would respond to queries for literary and commercial fiction etc; "categories" he claims to be interested in. Nope. Radio silence means take it elsewhere.

Jeff's Folio webpage states, "Please understand that due to the overwhelming number of queries I receive, I may not respond to queries that fall in categories outside my personal interests."

4/30/13, I queried Jeff Silberman with Chain Reaction. Yesterday I nudged him, due to the merge, and heard back. My query slipped through the cracks. He's overwhelmed with the current projects he's working on and won't have time to consider my ms. Oh well. Maybe I'll retry Venom this fall.

Folio Literary Management announced that as of July 1, they have combined with Literary Group International, continuing to operate together under the Folio name. LGI's president Frank Weimann is now senior vice president and director of operations at Folio, with Katherine Latshaw and Jeff Silberman continuing as agents. Weimann says in the announcement, "It's a great chance to combine our strengths and make something better. We complement each other, and we feel confident that our list going forward will be twice as strong."

One of Folio's founding partners Scott Hoffman (who spoke on our Publishers Launch BEA panel about agencies scaling), notes "the addition of Frank, Katherine, and Jeff to the team gives us even more opportunities to provide top notch service and comprehensive representation to all of our clients,” said Scott Hoffman, one of the founding members of Folio. --

12/28/12, I queried Jeff with Venom. After a polite nudge awhile ago, I'm closing it out with a NR. I'll try CR sometime in April with better luck. No rejection here, Aldersmith.
