EQ: 8/1/19: Couldn't find any guidelines for submission so I sent just a query letter with the basic outline. Will keep an update.

First, I emailed the address posted here on querytracker to make sure it was appropriate to send queries to this address.
She replied in less than 24 hours.

EQ: 7/3/2019. Let's see how this goes. She reps one of my favorite books, so I know better than to get my hopes up too high.
ER: 7/3/2019 - Just as I feared, a thoughtless form rejection in less than 24 hours.

I don't see any website or other source of query guidelines for her. Anyone know where I should look?

It was a general form in the "not the right agent for this" vein so something about the first page must have set me off? Otherwise I'm guessing I was too similar to someone she already has.

I wasn't sure if this agent was still taking queries. I decided what the heck? She edited for Isaac Asimov! Haha. So I queried her. 4/21 She replied... asking for a "partial" of TEN PAGES. (This email came at 2 am on 4/22.) I almost laughed. Most agents want that with the query. But I sent them. Her email said to expect it to take 6-8 weeks to reply to that... which seemed insane. Then today, a few hours ago, she asked for a bigger partial as a word doc... four chapters and a synopsis. She asked questions like whether my last agent had shopped this. I sent it today. Again, she said 6-8 weeks, but for some reason I'm thinking that may be a little over what she will really take. I am not sure if maybe she just doesn't get many queries or what...
I'll update with what she says.

She passed... based on a synopsis and the 50 page partial. She literally based her decision on the fact that a plot point seemed strained... in the synopsis. I have no idea how she can know whether it was strained.... without reading how it's handled. But in any case, she rejected. bummer for me, but she was fast.

@WhidgetBaker: While I'm not familiar with this particular agent, that kind of request isn't uncommon, at least these days. I've received ten page PRs from three agents on my current manuscript, and one of those has been out over a month. By contrast, the manuscript I tried to shop last year received the expected fifty page PR. This (along with the shift away from attachments) seems to be a very recent development and is probably some effort to clear the slush pile faster.
